Hello, my name is Cashew 🧡

I am only a young girl with some much love to share! I’m a little shy at first, but once you give me some tasty snacks and some of those wonderful chest scratches, I will soon become your best friend!

The staff at the shelter fell in love with me very quickly as I’m on the small side, sweet and very keen to learn. I love food and strive to please, I can already sit when asked, sometimes I shake paws and I’m working on my lead walking and coming back when asked!

I love my adventures with the team, playing in the paddock and exploring all the sniffs. My trainer has started me on some foundation focus skills and I’m totally rocking those! I thoroughly enjoy learning and will thrive in a home where I can continue my positive training journey!

As I’m only young, other dogs can be a bit much for me. But I am making some friends here at the home, so with some time, patience and successful set ups I can grow to live with another dog 🐕

If you would like to chat to our team about Cashew or make a time to come visit, please give our Spreyton shelter a call 🏠

Hello, my name is Leon 🧡

I am another dapper gentleman looking for my forever home. With my stunning colours, beautiful comb and cheerful personality - could be your new addition? 🐓

I make a brilliant, consistent alarm clock and love it when I see my breakfast coming! I would thrive in a rural setting where I can have a flock of hens to look after and protect. I am extremely friendly and would make a wonderful addition to any barnyard!

Due to my love for crowing, I would be best suited to a rural environment as I may disturb neighbours with his vocalisations. However, my friendly nature and lively personality make me a joy to have around 🏡

If you are looking for a rooster to add to your flock and bring some life to the farm, Leon would be a perfect fit. Come meet this handsome boy and see if he could be the perfect addition to your homestead!

Hello, my name is Kit 🤍

I am a delightful and happy boy, with lots of love and energy to share. I am a very special boy, looking for a unicorn home because not only am I strikingly handsome, I also have a special need.

As wonderful as my ears are, they actually do not work at all. I am fully deaf but that sure doesn’t slow me down!! I am coming along in leaps and bounds with my training. I can work loosely on lead, I’m learning how to come back when asked and I also focus beautifully 🐕

My trainer and the staff are absolutely loving my progress and I do very muchly love those tasty snacks! I have been working hard on learning some sign language type exercises as cues and I’m progressing great with those, the thumbs up means snacks are coming and I love it when I see that! 👍

Due to my deafness, I can be easily upset by other dogs. So I need a home where I can be the only King Kit to rule and have your care and attention. I am also still only an adolescent boy, so I’m still very bouncy and excitable so small children might be a little bit much for me just yet but I am working very hard on my manners 👑

With ongoing training with a positive trainer and full dedication to progress my foundation skills, I will become an excellent boy with brilliant ability. My trainer has said she can see me in a career in dog sports, especially obedience because once I get my initial zooms and cuddles out, I’m all yours and thrive when I’m learning 🤍

If you think you could be my unicorn home, give the shelter a call and ask to come meet me. Not only am I very handsome, I’m also a very good boy! 🏠

Please note that Kit will need a home with previous deaf dog experience and the understanding of how a dog like him has to have his lifestyle adapted to suit. Or the capacity for his adoptive owners to fully commit to training 🎯

You will have full support from our Animal Behaviour Trainer through the adoption phase and ongoing training opportunities as well!

Tasmanians Encouraged to Engage in Critical Step Towards Fixing Animal Welfare Laws

The release of the Dog Welfare Discussion Paper today is a critical and welcome step towards fixing Tasmania’s broken laws, RSPCA Tasmania CEO Andrea Dawkins said.

“Our current laws allowed Tasmanian Labradoodles to operate as a puppy farm with hundreds of dogs born into poor health and horrific conditions,” Ms Dawkins said.

“This was an appalling chapter in animal welfare for Tasmania, and we cannot ever let this happen again.

“Tasmania’s laws have failed all of us and as they stand right now, they do nothing to deter this from happening again.

“That’s why fixing these broken laws is a matter of importance and urgency.

“The release of the Improving Dog Welfare Outcomes in Tasmania Discussion Paper today is a welcome step towards banning puppy farms and protecting Tasmanian dogs.”

Ms Dawkins said the RSPCA would consider the Discussion Paper and provide a detailed submission.

“We want to see laws that ban puppy farms, secure mandatory registration for breeders and deliver a code of practice for breeders and facilities – and so much more,” Ms Dawkins said.

“There was a huge outpour of support when we called for help to adopt and foster the labradoodles, and I encourage Tasmanians to make a submission and engage in this critical opportunity to fix our laws and ban puppy farms for good.

“I thank Minister Howlett for pursuing these important reforms and for her commitment to introducing change as soon as possible.

This is welcoming news, our laws for puppy farms weren’t tough enough or animal cruelty laws in general and most of the time not regulated,i hope in recent events the government really step up and engage in critical steps with laws in the future to make sure this doesn’t ever happen again for dogs or any animal!

Pleased to see steps are being taken to prevent this travesty from happening again.

This must never happen again. Please change the laws asap. There are no words to describe this travesty. I have nightmares!!!!! Save the animals 🐾🐾

Hello, my name is Lomax 🧡

With exceptional good looks, a petite frame and a wonderful morning alarm - could I be a new addition to your flock? 🐓

I am looking for a home where I can scratch my chooky little toes in fresh ground, high perches where I can supervise my ladies and a love up all things chicken-related!

I am a friendly fellow who is sure to bring joy and entertainment to any farm or homestead. If you're looking to add some personality to your flock, i would be the perfect choice. While I may not be suitable for urban living due to my enthusiastic crowing, I will definitely make a wonderful addition to any rural setting. If you have room in your coop and your heart for me, apply to adopt today!

Hello, we are Ginger and Brownie 🐴

Ginger and Brownie are two lovely senior ladies looking for their forever retirement homes. Both are former racehorses who have gracefully transitioned into their retirement years with ease.

Ginger, a 19-year-old Chestnut Thoroughbred mare. I am a social butterfly who enjoys nothing more than spending time with my people. I love receiving affection and will bond closely with my new caregivers ❤️

Brownie is a 20-year-old Brown Thoroughbred mare. I am as sweet as can be. I love attention from humans and thrives on having my companion Ginger by her side. I am sensitive soul who gains confidence from the love and care those who interact with her ❤️

Both of us girls have recently had our dental work and hoof trims done, as well as vet checks to ensure we are healthy and ready for their next chapter. We are easy to handle and are perfect candidates for a retirement or companion home where we can live out our days in comfort, and with plenty of love and yummy snacks.

If you have a place in your heart and home for these beautiful natured girls, please consider giving Brownie and Ginger the loving retirement they deserve. They will reward you with their loyalty and companionship for years to come 🫶🏼🏠

These girls are the most kindest souls I’ve met them many times down the west coast. Some one won’t be disappointed if they wanted two old souls to bond with ❤️ If I could take more I would take these girls in a heart beat.

Precious girls 😻

I would so love to
